Busy, busy weekend. Full, fun and somewhat melancholic for some reason. Now, I'm home, wishing I could be more productive - you know, read faster, wash clothes, write - but also like time of doing nothing, which seems more like a dream and I shouldn't even try and go there.
What do you do when you're feeling blessed but lacking?
Maybe my hormones are chaosing about. (Yes, I like to make up words.) I'm pretty sure that's what it is, and this melancholy will pass in a day or two.
But, do you have strategies for when you're feeling out of whack and need to get yourself quickly back in alinement?

Nancy, I think I know exactly how you are feeling. For some reason, even though there's no apparent reason for it, the holidays can evoke those melancholy feelings for me, even in the midst of so many blessings! I think it's called being human. We sigh with gratefulness and for all that is just beyond our reach or no longer with us.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie for your comment and retweeting me. Don't know if it's the holidays...kinda do think it's hormones, lack of sleep and just feeling overwhelmed, but who knows?
DeleteI joined She Writes (finally noticed it on your blog), and think it's a great site that I've got to spend time getting to know.
Nancy, when I'm feeling that way I allow myself to feel those feelings and acknowledge their existence. Then I go into "do nothing" mode. I curl up on the sofa and watch my favorite comedy shows on TV. Laughter makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteOnce I've allowed myself to experience the melancholy feelings instead of pretending they don't exist or forcing them to go away, I go about my regular daily routines to distract me from focusing on the feelings. The distractions helps the feelings to dissolve away.
