Today I'm celebrating waiting... taking time to learn what I need... waiting for the right circumstances to show before I act.
A prayer I made this week was: "God, if I'm meant to speak up about my book [to particular people in my life], then please open the door wide where I will easily be able to go through it and speak." Guess what? That next day, the door opened for me to speak to those people, where if I didn't talk, there would have been awkward silences. With these folks, that never happens as there are always others around taking their attention. To tie this to the above statements, I prayed, waited for God to create the right circumstances and acted.
I'm also celebrating:
* Going to a panel discussion to learn about promoting my work.
* Going to the Christian Writers Seminar in Castro Valley last weekend and being inspired to publish a book of short stories and poetry.
* Having connections to join one or two writing critique groups. The one I go to at the main library is good but very rushed because of time constraints.
* Pegasus Books consigning my book. So they're at the Berkeley and Oakland stores in the Local Authors sections. I had to order more books to put in the Solano store, so they'll be there after I get them. I have to wait. :)
Thanks everyone for coming, reading and commenting. And thanks VikLit for hosting this blog hop. If you'd like to join this hop, just click on the VikLit's link in the previous sentence and learn all about it.
Wow, you are celebrating some really great stuff here! Pegasus Books consigning your book!! YAY!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dani. Just gotta get them sold!
DeleteCongratulations! You have a lot going on. Waiting is a tough process to learn. Thank heavens things run at God's speed and not our own :)
ReplyDeleteThe learning is tough. I have good spots, then have to remind myself all over again. :(
DeleteYou're so right about waiting. As difficult as it is, I always try to remind myself that there is such power in perfect timing, and the waiting process is an opportunity for personal refinement.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all the good things happening with your writing and book promotion.
Thanks Julie. It is all a fun process that promotes learning and personal growth in many ways.
DeleteIt's tough to be patient...this I know! :) It makes the result all the sweeter, though.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have quite a bit to celebrate...congrats! :)
You're right about that Mark. And got to remember to give praise when the results do come. :)
DeleteI love your slow-paced, patient celebration! Let me join you.
ReplyDeleteAnytime, all the time. We could be each other's accountability partners for waiting patiently!
DeleteWaiting is so hard! Congrats on keeping a good attitude through it. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, the attitude doesn't stay all the way through...the are ebbs and flows. :)
DeleteSlow and steady wins the race as they say! Good luck with the writing group connections.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Should go to the first one this Sunday, I think. Looking forward to it.
DeleteSome great things to celebrate congratulations :)
ReplyDeleteYes. :) Thanks Suzanne
DeletePatience is something that is very difficult for me. I am working very hard on learning to have more of it! Congratulations on having your book in the stores, and that one already sold out. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful weekend, Nancy. :)
Thanks Julie, but it didn't sell out. I just need to order more copies to put in their third store. The hope and prayer is that they will be sold! The consignment is for three months.
DeleteLots of good things are happening Nancy! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle!
DeleteHow wonderful about Pegasus books and that you need more for another location. I hope everything keeps improving! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is a great endeavor. Thank you Lexa. :)
DeleteCongrats with the inroads you are making with your book!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. There's just so much more to do! Wish I had everyday to do them. :) But, again, that's the theme of this - waiting and letting things go at their pace.
DeleteCongratulations on everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julia.
DeleteAh patience. It's so important and such a challenge! If there were one trait I would wish for more of, it would be patience as a parent as a wife and as a writer.
ReplyDeleteThose are traits that are tested everyday. I'm sure you are making your progress in all those areas. :)
DeleteFantastic celebrations!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right, we have to remind ourselves that taking things slow is a good thing. Congrats Pegasus consigning your Books ;)
Thank you! Just hope they do sell, then that'll be a great celebration.
DeletePrayers answered the way you hope - that's always a wonderful thing to celebrate. I'm glad you got the chance to talk to your peeps. Awkward silences are the worst! Castro Valley is a nice place. Have fun at the conference:)
ReplyDeleteThe thing is the silences would have been okay for me. It just that the door opened wide for me through those uncommon silences.
DeleteWow! I'm not sure you're celebrating the small things, I'd say they were all rather big :) Congratulations and keep going!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It'll be big if I get some sells. :)
DeleteTrust God to give you the right words at the right time.
ReplyDeleteAnd very cool your book is now in those bookstores!
I truly do trust God. Thanks Alex.
DeleteHello LaRonda,
ReplyDeleteFirst – congrats on getting your books into stores! I’m delighted for you.
Second – this post really resonates for me, it’s something that I reflect on a lot. We live in this instant gratification culture, where having to wait for something is barely tolerated. Yet, patience is a true grace (and one I continue to work on – some days better than others…!)
Third – couldn’t agree more on putting our prayers out there!
I look forward to dropping by your lovely blog again.
Cheers,
Alicia
So excited for you, Nancy. All of those wonderful opportunities are open to you. Really great that you've gotten your book consigned to so many places. Great job!
