Journal Past Blast: What's strange about love?

It’s Journal Past Blast time again, a weekly posting of my old journal entries. As with many of my journal entries, there is no date on this one. All of my journals are from college years on, that’s from 1986 on through 2009, when they tapered off significantly.

Yes, many of my journal entries, though not all of them, have to do with love – yearning for love, fear of love, the lack of love. Some of the postings are fictional or poetic, but many are factual or creations based on my real emotions. This poem is based on real emotions, although I don’t think I was talking about anyone in particular.

Here’s the untitled poem:

Strange wasn’t when
you looked at me.
Strange was when
you let me worry
about your love.
Strange was when
you let doubt
touch my heart, when
you let my eyes wander,
and my tears flow, when
you followed the path
they led
to your lips which
were there all along.
Strange wasn’t when
you said
never leave me.

Do you have any old writings that express those yearnings from years gone by?

  1. I wish I was better with poetry to express my emotions. I love to read it and love how flowing and expressive it can be. :)

    1. I never knew how much I'd written until I went over my journals.

  2. This was really touching and sad. And yes I too have poetry from years ago that shows past pain and yearnings.

    1. Does it still affect you, I wonder, when you reread it?

  3. Oh, only about a million of them ;) My journals are full of love, too, in all of the ways you name.

    1. :) Funny how it seems to take over our minds at times.

  4. The bewildering look of love lies within your thoughtful poem, Nancy. And if I was to reflect back, I'd realise that some of my questions will never be answered.

A peaceful day to you, my friend.
