What would you do if you could go through a wormhole?

I'm thrilled today! because I am able to imagine flying (or squirming?) through a wormhole to another place and return, no harm, no foul. Well, it says we get a round trip ticket to wherever, whenever we want. Does that mean no harm, no foul? Hmm....

This is a blog hop put together by Bards and Prophets and Stephen Tremp's blogs .

If I could go through a wormhole and get back, I'd want to go to the Garden of Eden, to Eve, right before the snake whispers unsweetened lies in her ears. I'd tell Eve the consequences of her actions, about the killings, starting with her son, Abel, and ending with the last murder I'd read up on before traveling. I'd tell her about broken hearts, illnesses - physical, mental and spiritual, children hating their parents, parents hating their children. About pollution, the extinction of species, about miscarriages, tsunamis, hoarders dying underneath mounds of trash in their homes, people dying without anyone by their sides. I'd tell her everything I know, especially about how all of these adversities are sweet music to the serpent's ears, and to not give him the pleasure. Instead, give us the pleasure of enjoying the earthly paradise as God had intended, with everyone having peace and no hardships, toil or birthing pains.

If I'm successful, does that mean I'd still be able to get back through the wormhole? I wonder what I'd see? Everyone naked, or the same because the serpent was able to deceive someone else?

  1. Ooh, interesting. I'm thinking that even if you told Eve all those things, she still might bite that fruit - because we've all been told the consequences to our willfulness and we STILL repeat those sins, you know? But if you did succeed & the devil never found his sucker, hmm, I'd love to see what the present would look like when you returned. Heaven on Earth, right?

    1. But we were born with sin, whereas Eve had none until the devil made his way into her life. I think she'd listen.

I've always been under the belief that if it had not been Adam and Eve to sin, someone else would have, because we have that human quality of being fooled and making big mistakes.

  2. What an interesting choice. It's quite something to imagine the world as the Garden of Eden. If only! I love this hop, it's so fun to read all the great possibilities people have come up with. :)

  3. Very interesting and intriguing choice. The hop is fun and it's amazing how many people chose something Bible-related.

    1. Yes, there were a few choices. I loved the ones who want to go back and witness one event from their personal family histories.

  4. A very interesting choice... I do wonder if I would be commenting here right now if you got to stop her??? Like you said though, maybe that serpent would still find a way, our destiny and all that might still play out, hmm...

    1. Yep. Human nature and all, seems like someone would be bound to mess it up.

  5. Wow, you don't mess around when you time travel. What a unique choice. Poor Eve. That's a lot of guilt on one head.

    1. No, the guild was really on Adam's head, as God told him not the eat the fruit, not Eve. But the snake did talk to her, not Adam. So...

  6. Yeah, I fear it's a lost cause. Humans are weak and flawed. That's our nature. And honestly, that's how God intended it.

    1. Could be - but you never know... at least until we're able to see him face to face.

  7. Funny, I was just debating about this with someone. Honestly, it's hard to say what would happen, or if it would really change anything in the end. Still, interesting choice!

    1. Thanks. I too always believed someone else would have made the same decision if not Adam and Eve.

  8. Could it be worse for that little tweak in the Garden of Eden? It's a little scary to contemplate, as there always seem to be a 'mule' (a disruption) that occurs in any timeline. An unforeseen catalyst that alters future events. Food for thought, for sure. Thanks for the follow.

    1. That's true. But if you're going to screw up history trying to do right, might as well start at the earliest period possible!

  9. I'd be much too afraid to go into the past and change things and I'd certainly never go to the Garden of Eden knowing that the tree of knowledge was there because if Eve didn't eat of the fruit, I probably would and then I'd be the cause of all the ills in the world. Nope, it's the future for me!

    1. LOL! YOU wouldn't! If you did knowing all that's in store, you would definitely need a hefty whopping!

  10. Hmmm, you just made a good point in your last comment. The reason I didn't want to go back into the past was that bugaboo about unintended consequences that could mess everything up, but like you say, if you're gonna go back, you might as well go to the beginning, so to speak. It's hard to imagine a world in which evil doesn't exist, because I've always said the bad things exist so we can have a better appreciation for the good. Good food for thought, anyway.

Nice to meetcha! Thanks for signing on as a new follower on my blog. It's my pleasure to return the favor.

    1. I'd hope most of us would like that. Brings up the point in The Matrix - that people weren't happy with a utopian matrix.

  14. Interesting philosophical question. Would the snake have tricked someone else? Is our destiny our destiny no matter what?

  15. Found and following from the National Wormhole Day blog hop. Very interesting post...would before-the-fall Eve have understood your warning? And, I believe that the devil would have tried someone else somewhere along the way. That was and is his nature.

    1. If she could understand a snake, I'm sure she would have been able to understand me. :)

    2. I'm sorry if my words were misleading, Nancy. I didn't mean could Eve have understood you, but rather could she (pre-eating-the apple and having her eyes 'opened') could she have comprehended the existence the evils brought on the world by her heeding the serpent.

It would be a noble action on your part to try and help her understand.

    3. I considered that, but even a kid can understand death and loss if you explain it right.

Noble? Hey, what are wormholes for, but to be a catalyst for noble acts? :)

  17. When I hear this sort of thing about a world without war, anger, etc., I always think of the movie SERENITY where they tried to make everyone in a world peace-loving and perfectly content, and the result was the creation of the Reavers!

Still it's an intriguing notion. The world would be unrecognisable.

    1. Not only the would the world be unrecognizable, but so would the people - with no innate evil, no... I can't even imagine how God intended the world to be with no fall into sin.

  18. Fascinating spin on original sin. Would Eve listen? Would Adam fall? How different would the world be then?

  20. The Garden Of Eden? A highly significant moment and location... but would they have listened?
If they had, would sin/evil have entered the world via another route, as part of the "Master Plan" that we mere mortals are not meant to fully understand??
    Unique perspective Nancy!

    1. Would you be about to handle the nudity Al?

It doesn't matter if the serpent doesn't give up, just that God's children focus on him and not listen to the serpent's lies.

  22. I also don't think the serpent would give up so easily. Or, for that matter that Eve would listen. I mean God blatantly told her not to eat the fruit. And she did. She may have a one track mind.

If I went back, I'd probably just punch her in the face and be all, "Thanks for wrecking it for the rest of us"
