Time
for Alex J. Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group.
I missed last month. It was right after the final post of the A-Z Challenge, and I had turned off the computer. Then I remembered about IWSG! But I was NOT going to turn the computer back on again. Oh well, another month has come, and it’s time to get some support!

You know how sometimes you feel like you got it all together, that you’re doing what
you can by being productive in your writing and editing and all? Then something
comes and knocks you right down, and you start to thinking that you will
never get where you want. You’ll never be more than what you are, and your dreams
will never come true, no matter how many times you alter them.
Well, I’ve been there this past month. I’m grateful those times disappear off into the horizon, and I can
get back on my horse and keep trotting away doing what I love. It can be hard
to keep in mind that there’s not one book that everybody loves, and that things
aren’t meant to go at the speed of light like I wish they’d go. As
long as I’m loving it, that there are people out there who are loving it, and I’m
still going for it, then the dreams will come true.
Don't let go of those dreams even when they get hard to hold on to. It makes them that much better in the end.
ReplyDeleteIf you enjoy it, so will others.
ReplyDeleteI'm going through a bit of that cycle myself Nancy-- thanks for sharing. Helps to know that maybe it's more normal than I feel like it is!
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling with some of those feelings myself, I guess we all do at times. I'm glad you got back on the horse and will keep on riding. :)
ReplyDeleteI've had one of those months too, but now I'm back on track and raring to go. It always passes, so long as we don't give up :)
ReplyDeleteFor most of last month I felt the same way, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, I think I'm slowly snapping away from that...
I'm so glad that you are back on that horse and moving forward, you are right, keep loving it and everything will fall into place ;)
It's a tough road, but the end is what makes it all worthwhile. Hang on tight to the reins and keep on going...you'll do great :)
ReplyDeleteKeep on following your heart and dreams, Nancy.

I'm so glad you said this. I thought I was the only one who missed the boat last month. "Dreams will come true," my favorite quote.
ReplyDeleteI hope your dreams come true! I hope mine do too someday! I too, aspire to become a writer. Life, I feel sometimes takes over! Great post, and enjoyed the encouragement you gave while asking!

More than half the battle is having a good time with what you are doing. Enjoy the journey, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteHi, Nancy,
ReplyDeleteI understand completely. Our journey is often riddled with doubt and anxiety. We fall off and it takes all of our efforts to continue on... but we do because our dream keeps us going. Our soul needs to be heard....
I'm sorry you've been feeling discouraged, but don't stop writing! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I've felt this. I'm glad you can pull out of this feeling.
ReplyDeleteNever stop believing in your dreams. Touching post Nancy.

Nancy it will pass. You are generally upbeat and such a go-getter, I don't think you can remain down for too long...

Uh huh, me too. I know the feeling.
ReplyDeleteGood reminders LaRonda,
ReplyDeleteWe all get down in the dumps every so often, but the wonderful thing is that those slumps don't last. Each positive review or comment about your books is a good reminder that we're good at what we do and should keep plugging away.
